Are Newsletters Really Worth It?
The short answer to this is YES.
At the end of the day, you don’t own your audience on social media and that makes every day you market a gamble. When you’re first starting out, it’s definitely easier to focus on one or two platforms and build up after you’ve started creating content. Once you’ve spent a few weeks to a few months creating a consistent routine, start finding different ways to grow your email and website audience.
What to do starting out?
When first starting out, I recommend at minimum having a sign up for your email list. This can be a simple full page form made in Flodesk that adds people to your original list. One of the easiest ways to entice people to join is a freebie. This can be a simple free guide created in Canva that breaks down your service, or something like a free link in bio ShowIt template (I’ve created 3, and you can grab them here to save time on your design). Even if you’re not ready to put energy into your email list, having a pool of leads will come in handy when you do.
Why is it worth it?
The only things you own on the internet are your website and your email list. If Instagram were to go down tomorrow, would you be prepared? Do you have a small audience anywhere else? Meta owns Instagram, so there’s a high chance Facebook would go down at the same time. If TikTok is banned tomorrow, do you have a back up plan? If Elon decides he no longer needs Twitter, what do you do?
Having a newsletter not only gives you a pool of warm leads during sale times and launch times, but you have peace of mind that you have an audience away from social media as well. In fact, it should be where most of your energy goes when putting together your marketing plan.
