If you’re at a time of looking for a website designer or a template for your business, you’re probably thinking “What am I even looking for?!”
You know you need a highly converting website, but what does that even mean??? You know you will need good SEO, but how do you know which websites have good SEO (search engine optimization)? What even is SEO (check out this blog post if you’re wondering this ;)?! You know your website should be making you money but that’s it.
Unless you’re a web designer, SEO expert, or copywriter, it’s totally normal to not have any clue what efforts need to go into your website. Hopefully this post helps simplify the process for you!
The most disappointing part for me of seeing someone’s website is not knowing what to do next. If I don’t know what you want me to do, how will your clients? You should be able to look at the website and know who this person is, what they offer, and how to get there. The template or portfolio should look similar. There should be a spot for your services, your portfolio, and an about you.
There is NOTHING worse than not being able to read a website because the colors just don’t work. Or not being able to focus on what even this person is selling because the colors are just ugly together. Colors can make or break a website, and if they’re not working, your website will definitely look very DIY.
A little bit of script is fine. It’s encouraged even. But if you’ve got paragraphs and paragraphs of script, you’ve got a problem. You only have so long to capture someone’s attention, and if they can’t comfortably read your page, you’ve lost them. Font’s are SO important.
You open the page and the website is beautiful. The first thing you see is what they do and a call to action. You feel like you know this person. You’re excited to read what results they can give you. All of the buttons work, its cohesive in it’s colors and fonts, and captures your attention. This is the key sign of good web design.
Beautiful web design is important, yes, but SEO is more important. Do your research on the website you’ll be using and how easy it is to include SEO. ShowIt is incredibly easy, and the blog you can integrate helps tremendously as well. Other places aren’t near as easy, or effective. Research is key in this scenario.
