If you’re still using beacons, Linktree, or any other third party, this is your sign to stop.
When you send them to your website, you’re omitting the extra step of a third party website. If they don’t find what they’re looking for in your links, they’re already on your website and can start exploring from there. Win-win, right?!
There are quite a few other reasons this benefits you, and the pros definitely outweigh the cons!
Branding
With third party bio links, it’s not always possible to customize down to the colors and fonts that match your brand. If it’s built into your website, it matches your brand completely and cuts down on time you spend putting it together. If you’re using ShowIt, your branding is already saved into your account and you can copy and paste most of the important things (like your menu and footer), so all you really need is to incorporate your links. Easy peasy!
Ownership
When it comes to social media and third party apps, you don’t own your audience. They could disappear tomorrow, and if all you have is social media marketing, you’re going to lose your entire lead pool in a matter of seconds. You own your website, and you own your email list. If you aren’t putting the majority of your efforts into growing your email list and your directing people to your website, you are leaving so much money on the table while gambling with the internet daily. SEO
Google tracks how much website traffic you’re receiving and it boosts your SEO, resulting in you ranking higher in search results. Who doesn’t want an SEO boost?! By giving the third party all that traffic, you are missing out.
What do I need to build my page?
The KISS method is your bestie when it comes to this- Keep it simple, stupid! Make sure the URL is something simple (Mine is https://brielenaphotography.com/link-in-bio) so it’s easy to search. Keep the page unlinked from the rest of your website-meaning, don’t add it to your menu. Make sure your page is mobile optimized, or that it looks good on your phone, and triple check all the links! You want it to look good, but it doesn’t need to be extravagant.
What links should I include?
SO many options! A confused mind says no, so definitely keep it simple here as well. I would recommend keeping your link count around 5 or so-remember, they’re already on your website so if they don’t find what they’re looking for, they can always look around. Here’s a few ideas on what to include!
But it’s totally up to you! Make sure you’re including all the important links that will sell for you-get creative!
